Works in the center, construction sites ahead. Now it's Porta Romana's turn

After the square, the main street again. The works included in the National Recovery and Resilience Plan (remember the overall package of 5 million euros) are proceeding at a rapid pace in the historic and urban center .

The pavement has been completely redone in Piazza Torre di Berta , which can count on blocks of the most resistant quality of pietra serena: the last remaining uncovered slice was the one on the side of the bishop's palace, where it took just a few weeks for the covering, but another team of workers is already taking care of the arrangement of Via XX Settembre from the intersection with Via Giovanni Buitoni to the entrance of Porta Romana, with the exclusion for the moment of Piazza Santa Marta to meet the requests of public traders: here in fact there is a restaurant and a bar with external appurtenances and so we will wait for the beginning of autumn to carry out the intervention, which will complete the resurfacing of the main road on the entire side that concerns the oldest district of the city.

At the same time, the repaving of Piazza Dotti is also progressing, once the approval has been obtained from the Superintendency: traces of the foundations of a building (probably dating back over a century) had in fact come to light at a depth of 30 centimetres, together with the positioning of the relative columns.

Leaving the city walls, continue along the perimeter that connects Porta del Ponte with the Campaccio area for the construction of the cycle/pedestrian path .

The interventions are focusing on the garden in front of the "Luigi Batti" shooting range, on the Porta Tunisi parking lot, on Viale Pacinotti and on Viale Barsanti, with the conclusion at the entrance to the Campaccio park. And right on the stretch that runs alongside Viale Pacinotti, a lady has recorded a rather controversial video, posted on social media, in which she declares that she has reached the threshold of 60 years and does not remember having ever seen her city so disfigured before, speaking of "disgust" and pointing to barriers and some garbage thrown on the ground.

We can agree on this last aspect, because the civic sense is not at its best; for the rest, these are works that should be finished by the end of the year, so we need to be a little patient. In the meantime, at Porta Fiorentina, along Viale Vittorio Veneto, the one-way system with traffic lights should soon be removed. Five construction sites at the same time, to which is added the sixth, always of the Pnrr, concentrated on the expansion of the "La Cometa" nursery school . The Borgo is reorganizing its look.
