An archipelago of music and beauty. Stresa Festival, starring Galliano.

Holiday time on Lake Maggiore , the setting for a rich program of music , culture , entertainment, and outdoor sports . Among the highlights is the Stresa Festival, now in its 64th edition. A "musical archipelago" reflected in the waters of Lake Maggiore, encompassing the three islands—Isola Bella, Isola Madre, and Isola dei Pescatori—and the Rocca di Angera. This evening in Stresa, Richard Galliano (pictured) presents Passion Galliano, a program that includes music by Debussy, Satie, Chopin, Granados, Piazzolla, and Galliano himself: "My friend Pierre Barouh wrote a beautiful text entitled L'Allégresse based on one of my compositions, Il Piccolo Circo." We obviously hope for good weather.
Tomorrow, the world premiere of a new work written specifically for the Festival will be presented. It embodies two key aspects of this year's event: the centrality of Lake Maggiore and its islands, and the connection between classical music and "other" and contemporary music. Suite for a Lake is a suite conceived and composed by Simone Locarni, this year's artist in residence, who, at the suggestion of artistic director Mario Brunello, decided to create this original composition as a tribute to Lake Maggiore, so central and dear to Simone's life and music.
On August 1st, Frida Bollani Magoni will embark on a new tour: she's now simply FRIDA. FRIDA will bring a new show to the stage, a mix of original songs and covers, accompanied by renowned British musician Mark Glentworth (percussionist, composer, pianist, and singer). The series will conclude in September; for information on the complete program, please visit the Stresa Festival website. Tonight, the Associazione Musica Libera, with the Il Lago Cromatico festival, presents a classical music concert dedicated to J.S. Bach at the MIDeC, Palazzo Perabò in Cerro di Laveno Mombello.
From music to sports. On Saturday, September 27th, the wild nature of the Val Grande National Park, Europe's largest wilderness area, will be the backdrop for the Ultra Trail Lago Maggiore in Verbania. This event not only showcases the imposing Alpine ranges and views of five lakes, but also offers the thrill of arriving on the shores of Lake Maggiore, embodying the spirit of active and sustainable tourism.
Finally, as part of Sustainevents, the project funded by the Interreg VI-A Italy-Switzerland 2021-2027 Programme, noteworthy among the events scheduled is the Tones on the Stones Mountain Sound Festival on August 2nd. This evocative event takes place in the fascinating stone theatre at the foot of the Alps in the heart of the Ossola Valley.
