Biogeo Museum, over 1,600 visitors from January to July

Over 1,600 visitors attended the BIOGEO Museum from January to July 2025. This result was achieved primarily thanks to the participation of schools of all levels, not only from the provinces of Avellino and Benevento, which have always been present, but also from other areas of Campania. "We had the pleasure," reveals researcher Antonella Fierro, director of the Biogeo Museum, "of hosting high schools from Aversa, Caserta, Giugliano, and Angri, a sign of the growing interest in our exhibition." "We also welcomed groups of adults, cultural associations, and international students from Slovakia, Romania, and France, as part of Erasmus projects," she adds. Biogeo–Museum of the History of Earth and Life, strongly supported by Biogem president Ortensio Zecchino, inaugurated in 2009, expanded, reorganized, and relocated to a more suitable location in 2016, was born from a synergy with the INGV (National Institute of Geophysics and Volcanology) and the University of Sannio, based on a project conceived by the Museum Center of the Gabriele d'Annunzio University of Chieti and Pescara. Structured as an exciting journey through the history of Earth and life, it aims to highlight, through innovative digital technologies, the importance of the interaction between genome and environment in the evolution of all living species. A visit to Biogeo thus becomes an immersive journey, among fossils, models, spectacular scenography, and multimedia installations, guiding visitors from the birth of the planet to the emergence of humanity, passing through genetics, biodiversity, and the wonders of molecular biology. >. Biogeo welcomes schools of all ages, tailoring the exhibition itinerary to the students' ages and offering a variety of attractions. From the Quadrisfera, a spectacular multimedia installation designed by physicist Paco Lanciano, to the Multimedia Pyramid, from the 7D room to the life-size reproduction of an Allosaurus fragile skeleton, to authentic fossil finds of varying importance and provenance. It also offers the opportunity to consult, in digital format, the famous 1776 volume 'Campi Phlegraei' by Sir William Hamilton, a British diplomat and pioneer of volcanology, with illustrations by Pietro Fabris, considered one of the most beautiful books of the eighteenth century.

BIOGEO is open Monday to Friday, from 10 am to 1 pm and from 3 pm to 5 pm (booking required for school groups), while on Saturdays and Sundays it is open to groups by reservation only.
