Jesi (Ancona), October 14, 2025 - In anticipation of the premiere of Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart's "Don Giovanni," which opens the 58th Opera Season at the Teatro Pergolesi in Jesi on Friday (8:30 pm) and Sunday (4:00 pm), several events are scheduled to introduce and explore the opera. It begins tomorrow (4:00 pm) with the youth preview, the traditional program reserved for students and those participating in the "Musicadentro" 2025 training project, the program for learning about opera and its composer, led by musicologist Cristiano Veroli. The "Guide to the Opera," open to all, offers two sessions curated by Cristian Carrara, artistic director of the Pergolesi Spontini Foundation: free online streaming at www.fondazionepergolesispontini.com/diretta-streaming/ until the performance date, with video accessible to the blind, visually impaired, deaf, and hard of hearing; In person, with "Prima dell'Opera" in the Sale Pergolesian of the Teatro Pergolesi on Friday at 7 pm and Sunday at 3 pm (reservations required). For the Sunday performance of "Don Giovanni," an "Accessible Opera" service is also available, with audio description for the blind and visually impaired, surtitles for the deaf and hard of hearing, and inclusive tours and guides before the performance. Thanks to the collaboration between the Fondazione Pergolesi Spontini and Axess Associazione per l'Accessibilità alla Cultura, on Sunday, October 19, starting at 2 pm, service users will be involved in an inclusive and multisensory journey to discover the opera. This will be followed at 3 pm by a guided tour with artistic director Cristian Carrara, and at 4 pm by the accessible performance, with sign language interpretation available upon request. "Don Giovanni," on stage at the Teatro Pergolesi, is produced by a consolidated artistic team composed of director Paul-Émile Fourny, set designer Benito Leonori, costume designer Giovanna Fiorentini, and lighting designer Patrick Méeüs. The American conductor, Arthur Fagen, former music director of the Atlanta Opera House, will conduct. The cast, predominantly under 35, is internationally renowned: Christian Federici (Don Giovanni), Maria Mudryak (Donna Anna), Louise Guenter (Donna Elvira), Valerio Borgioni (Don Ottavio), Stefano Marchisio (Leporello), Gianluca Failla (Masetto), Eleonora Boaretto (Zerlina), and Luca Dall'Amico (Commendatore). The orchestra, the Time Machine Ensemble, is also under 35. This youth orchestra was founded eight years ago within the Pergolesi Spontini Foundation. The Ventidio Basso Choir from Ascoli Piceno will sing. Dedicated to the seducer and conqueror of women "of every rank, every shape, every age" for the pure "pleasure of placing them on the list," Mozart/Da Ponte's Don Giovanni premiered in Prague on October 29, 1787, conducted by the composer himself, at the Teatro degli Stati (then known as the Nostic Theater), with Giacomo Casanova in attendance. The opera was dedicated to the Prague audience, who had also enthusiastically welcomed his previous works, such as "The Marriage of Figaro." The premiere was enthusiastically received; called by Wagner "the Opera of Operas," it has enjoyed an uninterrupted stage life.
