Lusitania and Fado: A Journey Through Time Through Music and Words

This evening at Parco Center , Via Ambrogio Binda 30, in Barona , we're hosting Alfabeto , the festival dedicated to world cultures and their artists. The program includes " L for Lusitania ," a concert-show featuring songs and lyrics about Fado and the fascination this musical genre, a symbol of Lisbon and Portugal, continues to exert throughout the world today. Declared an Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity by UNESCO in 2011 and made famous by the incomparable Amália Rodrigues, Fado has ancient roots, born in the poor neighborhoods of Lisbon from the encounter of various peoples, including Africans. Parco (Polillo Art Container) is a new event location in the historic Barona neighborhood, not far from the Naviglio Grande : a multipurpose center that serves as a gathering place for various communities working in the fields of culture, art, digital, and social work.
