Today and tomorrow's event: meetings at the museum and traditional boats
Two evocative days unfold today and tomorrow in Cattolica, where the Vele al terzo: Gathering of Historic Boats 2025 event will take place, organized by the Museo della Regina (pictured) in collaboration with the Mariegola delle Romagna association and with the support of Destinazione Turistica Romagna. Going into more detail about the program, tonight at 9:00 p.m., the museum garden will host Professor Stefano Medas of the University of Bologna, who will retrace the birth of scientific and cultural interest in traditional Adriatic seafaring and the role of the Museo della Regina in protecting and promoting this important heritage. It's no coincidence that this heritage has been the focus of attention in recent weeks. The art of sailing with lateen sails and vela al terzo—whose style secrets, complete with explanatory models, are kept at the Museo della Regina—is indeed moving toward UNESCO recognition.
as intangible cultural heritage. Tomorrow, starting at 11 a.m., historic vessels from the ports of Riccione, Rimini, Bellaria-Igea Marina, Cesenatico, and Cervia will arrive in the canal port of Cattolica to join the Lancia 'Marzia', the batana 'Briciola', and the 'Mario III', and the 'Vele d'epoca Gabicce Mare' association. This second day of celebration will conclude at 9 p.m. in the garden of the Museo della Regina with readings of local maritime tradition by Silvio Castiglioni, with musical interludes by the cultural association La Canta.
