The food collection for the people of Gaza exceeded 16.5 tons . This result exceeds all expectations, thanks to a grassroots effort that has grown week after week thanks to word of mouth and the commitment of many volunteers. Even the mayor of Varese, Davide Galimberti, participated in the solidarity initiative.

Among the initiatives to support the Palestinian population organized in Varese are a two-day walk along the Via Francisca del Lucomagno on Friday, September 5th and Saturday, September 6th. Full details

12.5 tons of aid on its way to Genoa

The truck that left on the morning of Friday, August 29, for the port of Genoa is carrying approximately 12.5 tons . There, the cargo will join those arriving from other Italian cities, before heading to Gaza alongside those transported by dozens of ships from around the world participating in the Global Sumud Flotilla mission.

The extra food will go to those in need.

The remaining portion—about 4 tons of food—will not go to waste. In fact, the Cooperative is already working to allocate it to other needs. Part of it will likely be donated to Caritas , while a significant portion will be sent to Ukraine .

This new opportunity has just emerged: the driver of the vehicle headed to Genoa is a member of an association that delivers aid to war-torn areas in Ukraine . A trip is planned for early September.

"Ukraine needs help, but it's less talked about."

" There's still a huge need in Ukraine ," the organizers explain , "but it's become more difficult to raise aid today : there's no emotional buzz like the one we had for Gaza. The conflict is less present in public opinion; it seems a bit stale. That's why we're so excited to be able to receive this food aid."
