A record-breaking first day at Campania Mater, amidst crowds, ideas, and vision.

The forum dedicated to Campanian agriculture hosted at the Royal Palace of Naples
The first day of Campania Mater , the forum dedicated to Campanian agriculture hosted at the Royal Palace in Naples , was a resounding success. The event saw a turnout exceeding expectations and a lively discussion among institutions, experts, businesses, stakeholders, and citizens. For Campania Regional President Vincenzo De Luca, "Campania Mater is an extraordinary opportunity to jointly build an agricultural model that combines tradition, innovation, and quality. Campania can continue to be a hub of national and European excellence, focusing on young people."
The presentation of the book "Campania Mater. The Campania Model for the Food of the Future" also drew considerable attention. This manifesto-book was edited by Agriculture Councilor Nicola Caputo , coordinated by Alex Giordano and Teresa Del Giudice, with the scientific contribution of Nomisma . "Campania Mater is not just an event," Caputo explained, "but a collective journey that focuses on skills, people, and passion. With the book, we wanted to summarize strategies for addressing global challenges and strengthening the PDO economy, a crucial point for a region that aims to become a national and European reference model."
The Nomisma research captures a Campanian agriculture in the midst of transition, challenged to combine sustainability, innovation, and territorial identity . Among the strengths that emerged were growing exports (+111% since 2014, €5.7 billion by 2024), a boom in organic production (20% of UAA), the importance of PDO and PGI supply chains, and a high presence of women-owned businesses (38.8%). Throughout the day, there was a strong turnout at the thematic roundtables on climate change, food and health, innovation, and foreign markets, confirming the centrality of Campanian agriculture, ready to meet global challenges and opportunities. A particularly heartfelt moment was the award ceremony for the former Campania Regional Councilors for Agriculture, for their contributions over the years to the sector's growth, along with the Campania Mater Award presented to agri-food entrepreneurs who have contributed to the success of the PDO Economy and the Made in Campania label. The two-day event continued with a focus on agri-food heritage, new marketing strategies for Made in Campania, and international connections with operators and experts from Europe and beyond.
