Traffic congestion in Milan
Milan, July 8 – Green light for the amendment to the Infrastructure decree that provides greater flexibility for Euro 5 diesel cars . This was announced by the Ministry of Transport, expressing "great satisfaction" on the part of Matteo Salvini who speaks of a "common sense choice" .

In particular, a note from the Ministry of Infrastructure and Transport states that "the deadline for the regions of Piedmont, Lombardy, Veneto and Emilia-Romagna to impose a structural restriction on the circulation of cars and commercial vehicles of category N1, N2 and N3 with Euro 5 diesel fuel has been postponed from 1 October 2025 to 1 October 2026 .
At the same time, the limitation should be applied as a priority to road traffic in urban areas of municipalities with more than 100,000 inhabitants , rather than 30,000 inhabitants". Furthermore, thanks to the approved amendment, "after the deadline of 1 October 2026, the Regions can disregard the inclusion of the structural limitation on the circulation of cars and commercial vehicles of category N1, N2 and N3 with diesel fuel of category Euro 5 in the air quality plans by adopting, in the aforementioned plans, compensatory measures suitable for achieving levels of reduction of polluting emissions consistent with the constraints deriving from the European Union system".
