Edison: Revenues at €9.4 billion, 50% of EBITDA from renewables


Edison closed the first six months of 2025 with revenues of 9.4 billion euros , primarily due to higher energy volumes produced and sold (electricity sales up 33%, gas up 18%). EBITDA stood at 736 million euros , down compared to the first half of 2024. Renewable energy and customer services activities account for 50% of Edison's EBITDA, in line with the goal of gradually reaching 70% by 2030.
In January 2025 , Edison, EDF, and ENEA announced they had signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with the goal of implementing innovative small-scale nuclear technologies , such as Small Modular Reactors (SMRs). Edison Next has also initiated a process with Acciaierie Venete to increase the sustainability of its sites by signing a 20-year offsite Power Purchase Agreement (PPA) for the development of a ground-mounted photovoltaic plant with a total capacity of 6.7 MWp.
In February, Edison Energia signed 3 million contracts and advanced its target of 4 million contracts to 2028, confirming its presence in the market for gas and electricity volumes supplied to businesses, the service sector, and public administration. A progressive electrification of its customers' consumption is planned.
Among the most significant results of March 2025, Edison announced the completion of the sale of 100% of Edison Stoccaggio to Snam , which will support its long-term development; Data4 and Edison Energia announced the signing of a ten-year Power Purchase Agreement for the construction of a 148 MWp (Megawatt-peak) photovoltaic park in the province of Viterbo.
Also in March, Prysmian and Edison Energia signed a multi-year Corporate Power Purchase Agreement (PPA) for the supply of 100% renewable energy, with Edison Energia providing Prysmian with approximately 25% of its current annual electricity consumption in Italy.
In May, Edison announced the commissioning of a new 27 MW photovoltaic plant in Battipaglia, in the province of Salerno, with a capacity of 55 GWh, capable of meeting the energy needs of over 20,000 families. The company also announced the arrival in Italy of the first shipment of Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) from the United States , linked to the contract with Venture Global. Finally, Italgas, Gaxa (Edison Energia), and Granarolo signed an agreement for the supply of green hydrogen to serve the Casearia Podda production plant owned by Granarolo in Sestu (Cagliari).
In June, Edison Next inaugurated a new trigeneration plant capable of simultaneously generating electricity, heating, and cooling at the Palermo Polyclinic. It also announced the launch of a long-term agreement with Verdalia Bioenergy for the exclusive purchase of biomethane produced by Verdalia's portfolio of seven plants located in the province of Brescia.
Among the results subsequent to the half-yearly financial report, in July 2025 Edison sold its 50% stake in ELPEDISON BV , a Dutch company that owns the entire capital of the Greek company Elpedison SA (Elpedison), to Helleniq Energy Holdings SA.
