Elon Musk's Starlink Blackout Worldwide: What Happened?

ROME – The Starlink satellite internet connection system suffered a worldwide outage lasting several hours due to a fault that caused a widespread blackout. "The outage was due to a failure of the key internal software services that manage the core network," wrote Starlink Engineering Vice President Michael Nicolls. "We are deeply committed to providing a highly reliable network and will identify the root cause of this issue and ensure it does not recur," he added.
The outage has caused disruption to users around the world—over millions in 140 countries to date—and, while it's not the first large-scale outage (the most recent was in September 2023), it remains a rather rare occurrence for the technology of SpaceX, owned by Elon Musk . The announcement was made by the company and the multibillionaire himself, also the owner of SpaceX and Tesla, around 10 p.m., an hour after reports began. Service was gradually restored after about two and a half hours . The error displayed was "No healthy upstream," related to server connection issues.
