Piazza Affari closed at +0.31%, week +1.02%

Stock markets were unclear, with Milan posting a positive gain (+0.31%) and seeing a 1.02% gain for the week, while Frankfurt remained only slightly lower (-0.36%). This week, it should be remembered, saw the announcement of the agreement between the United States and Japan on tariffs and rumors of a pending agreement with the European Union.

Among the stock market trends today, Carrefour stands out, up 5.54% after announcing the sale of all 1,200 supermarkets in Italy for one billion euros to the Italian group NewPrinces (formerly Newlat). Its stock today fell 9.35%, despite having risen 59.8% since the beginning of the year.

In Milan, Interpump rose the most (5.13%), while Saipem fell the most (-3.27%). Moncler rebounded today, up 2.87% after yesterday's 5.84% decline, partly because French luxury giant LVMH reported better-than-expected earnings, albeit a 15% decline. The Italian-French company StMicroelectronics, on the other hand, failed to rebound, falling 1.02% after a 16% decline following its quarterly results.

And in the microprocessor sector, Intel's 8.75% decline is causing a stir, due to its lowered forecasts for the next quarter. The chipmaker announced that it has already cut 15,000 jobs since the end of last year, with another 10,000 to be cut. Furthermore, multibillion-dollar factory projects in Germany and Poland will be canceled.

On Wall Street, indices are up both today and this week (S&P 500 up 0.21% today, up 1.29% this week). Eyes are on the quarterly results. Approximately 82% of the 169 S&P 500 companies that have released results so far have beaten analysts' expectations, according to FactSet calculations.
