Against violence against health workers, doctors and nurses for a day

Doctor, nurse or operator healthcare worker for a day. It's 'Inter-Azione', the pilot project activated in recent days by the Foundation Pelucca in his geriatric institute in Sesto San Giovanni (Milan). An initiative created and desired by the general director and health worker of the facility, Giuseppe Minutolo, who defines it "a unique experimental action of great social importance" to help the patients' families understand what it means be on the other side of the counter. "The project, for as far as we know, one of a kind - he adds - is son of the growing phenomenon of verbal attacks and unfortunately physical injuries suffered by women and men who lend their service in the Social Health System2. "La Pelucca - explains the president of the Foundation, Giuseppe Nicosia - felt the duty to take part in the process of awareness raising already active on this issue, through an initiative that aims to have an impact at the root, that is, on relatives of patients, from that part of civil society directly involved, creating a path that sees them as leading actors, making them experience the normal daily routine of a day of work in a structure". This is, in practice, "a day with the roles reversed", alongside and when possible taking on the role of those who take care of patients every day "creating - adds director Minutolo - awareness, alliance and mutual recognition". The project, which is develops on a voluntary basis, around ten have already joined relatives of patients.
