Bologna Municipal Elections 2027, the citizens launch the challenge to the mayor Lepore

Bologna, June 28, 2025 – Mayors and administrators of the Metropolitan City raise their voices in view of the 2027 municipal elections . And from the province comes the request for a change that goes beyond the “Bologna-centric” vision of the current administration.

Leading the need for change is the former mayor of Monzuno Marco Mastacchi , now regional councilor of Rete civica, an organization that for years has been 'networking' various local civic lists, which this morning at Villa Benni in via Saragozza opened the '2027 construction site' . "I am sure that our territories have the right names for this challenge", says Mastacchi.

In the audience there were many well-known faces who gravitate towards the centrist fold: from the former candidate for president of Emilia-Romagna Elena Ugolini , to the mayors Bruni Pasquini (Monzuno) and Davide Lelli (Monterenzio); from the councilors Gian Marco De Biase (Al Centro Bologna) to Samuela Quercioli (Bologna ci Piace); from Alberto Zanni (Confabitare) to various councilors such as Otella Zappa (Molinella) and councilors such as Andrea Tonelli (Casalecchio) and Jessy Simonini (Medicine). Also in the audience were the local secretary of Noi Moderati, the former mayor of Castenaso Stefano Sermenghi , and Francesco Semilia in the national council of Mondo al Contrario, Roberto Vannacci's movement.

The problems on the table

On the table the many problems of the hinterland, starting from the many inconveniences on mobility following the flood, but also the long-standing problem of the lack of skills with the scarcity of technicians. From here, the request that something moves starting from the need to reopen the dossier of the Provinces, with a new law, to "directly elect the metropolitan mayor".

Criticisms of Lepore

There is no shortage of criticism for the mayor Matteo Lepore who is already warming up for an encore , who for the centrist councilor De Biase "is not a family man close to the citizens, but someone who makes schizophrenic choices from the Besta schools to the increase in the cost of bus tickets". Civic councilor Andrea Tonelli (Casalecchio) also goes on the attack, defining the blue tram line "a lucid madness , so much so that in our Municipality no one knew anything about it... a real lack of respect". For this reason "we need to give a push to the parties, we cannot be subservient to them. We must unite all civic and administrative forces" in view of 2027.
