Dangerous Plants and Cycle Paths to Be Finished: Summer of Construction in San Rocco al Porto

Mayor Matteo Delfini updates on safety measures
San Rocco al Porto (Lodi), 25 June 2025 - San Rocco al Porto , during the summer, will try to secure the critical areas by acting on two fronts. “Parking bans have been established in the square because last year, due to a windstorm, a large branch broke off, landing on a bench, fortunately without consequences for anyone - explains the mayor Matteo Delfini, clarifying what is intended to be done -. We have therefore appointed an agronomist who has done research on our plants and has identified those that will have to be treated or cut down. And some of the latter, unfortunately, are right in the square. It is certainly a shame, because they are large plants and also provide shade, but we must ensure safety . In any case, we will replace them as soon as possible”.
Then there is the wait for the completion of the cycle paths . “The Province has informed us that work will soon begin on the construction of the cycle path that will go from the Biffi roundabout to the current section of the cycle path that starts in the town and arrives at the new roundabout. This cycle path will be built mainly on the side where there are existing buildings and a pedestrian crossing and systems to ensure the slowing down of vehicles in transit will be added - he says -. To do this, the provincial road will be widened and therefore, when the work begins, one lane of the provincial road in this section will be closed. A one-way system will be established in the direction of Via Emilia towards Mezzana, Biffi roundabout. The others will have to go around and go through Via 2 Giugno, to then connect to Via Emilia or to the town”.
"It is an intervention that we strongly wanted - the mayor emphasizes - which also meets the needs of citizens who live beyond the provincial road: because they will finally be able to come to town safely. It is financed in part by the Municipality and in part by the Province. The local authority finances it with part of the funds for roads, obtained when the former Auchan was expanded. An 800,000 euro project, the Municipality puts in 250,000, the rest is paid by the Province". And he concludes: "There will also be a little inconvenience this summer but soon we will have completed the entire cycle connection between San Rocco, the Via Emilia and the rest of the Bassa Lodigiana" .
