End of season 2025: AD Pallacanestro Gavirate 4 of 11

After the rollercoaster of the 2023-2024 season, AD Pallacanestro Gavirate tried to put together a team that could face the Serie C championship and aim for the top of the standings. It started with the confirmation of the coach, Davide Gardini, and key players such as Bajric, Prodorutti, Porcu and Rios . The Gallarate spin-off composed of Salzillo, Merlo and Sciutti was added to this group, who it was known would return at the end of the championship.

Starting with a long bench, the year immediately proved difficult in terms of continuity and completeness of the group. We lost some players almost immediately, such as Biotti, Alongi and Virginio for unrelated reasons. Then came the serious injury of Elu Conte , followed immediately by that of Salzillo. We didn't even have time to get them back and we ran into a broken foot for Jessica Porcu, which deprived us of one of the two starting point guards for the whole year. We then lost Conte herself during the season, due to the dismissal of Mandole (her husband, who was head coach of Pallacanestro Varese but moved to England), and Camilla Vescovi for work reasons.

Between ups and downs, however, the results arrived and the club finished the championship in fifth place . Thanks also to the return of Sciutti, Gavirate managed to pass the first round of the playoffs with a 2-0 in Vimercate . Same result, but against us in the semifinal with the battleship Vittuone. The latter exited the Gavirate field only after a real battle, perhaps one of the best games seen this year. The final result for the company was still very good and in line with what was planned and hoped for at the beginning of the year with a group growing in terms of confidence and play.

For next year the most significant change is the change on the bench between Davide Gardini and Tiziano Gualtieri . Although the results with Davide have not been lacking, the hope of the company, considering Tiziano's experience in the women's team, is to make the girls take a further step of growth also as a group. In fact we congratulate him for the UISP RSA Il Gigante Inverigo team, which graduated as UISP amateur Italian champion for the second consecutive time. At the player level, Gavirate will recover Camilla Virginio while the road to reconfirming Rios is very difficult. We are looking around to complete the roster, perhaps with a guard/forward, but without rushing.

Next year the effort will be on the youth . To raise the quality and level of training and consequently of the teams, Marta Scaramelli , a well-known and highly rated youth team coach in the province, has been hired. For this year, due to previous commitments, she will only take care of supervision while from next year she will be an active part of the coaching group. The most painful note is the probable withdrawal of Pallacanestro Varese . In these two years it has not been possible to build a solid project and although Gavirate would have continued with the experience, the red and white company seems intent on leaving the collaboration with disabled and women.
