Genoa, dossier against the mayor Silvia Salis: the plan of the former FdI councilor and the head of the police to discredit her

Searches in the Municipality

A sort of dossier with the aim of hitting and sinking the race for mayor of Genoa of Silvia Salis , candidate of the progressive camp for the Ligurian capital who will manage to win in the first round of the administrative elections of 25 and 26 May.
It is on this investigative basis that the searches carried out on Tuesday morning in the offices of the Municipality are based, as part of an investigation for corruption, forgery and disclosure of official secrets in which the former councilor for security Sergio Gambino (now opposition city councilor with the Brothers of Italy party) and the current commander of the local police Gianluca Giurato , appointed by the former mayor and now governor of Liguria Marco Bucci, are under investigation.
Among the various episodes under scrutiny by the Genoa Public Prosecutor's Office, the one that is politically burning is without a doubt the dossier of which the new mayor Silvia Salis was allegedly the victim. The "bomb" to be dropped on the electoral campaign to damage the candidacy of Salis, a former Olympic hammer thrower and then vice president of Coni, was allegedly the news relating to the run-over of a woman on a pedestrian crossing by Salis, an episode dating back to May 2024 and which has remained unpublished.
An episode published by the right-wing newspaper La Verità in the days before the vote as part of a series of episodes dedicated to Salis: according to the prosecutors, the former councilor Gambino would be behind this plan, while the one who would have physically passed the secret report to the journalists would have been Giurato. For this reason, both are under investigation for revealing secret documents.
The version of events leaked to the newspaper published by Angelucci would also have been different from what actually happened: "Reading today's press review we discover that Silvia Salis is under investigation for having hit a woman while running a red light. The victim suffered a head injury, a broken foot and other injuries", Gambino wrote in a note on social media, relaunching the news of the accident that saw Salis under investigation.
In reality, Salis had not passed through the red light, but the green one . But above all, the Prosecutor's Office thesis is that the councilor had not learned this from the press review: it was Gambino who had passed the information to the friendly newspaper through the commander of the Municipal Police.
"These are facts that, if verified, are very serious. They give the idea of how a certain political party thinks that a personalistic use of power is possible", was the comment of the mayor Salis on the investigation of the Prosecutor's Office.
