June 2: in Udine a call for collaboration between institutions for the common good

“In this territory, state bodies, the Region, mayors, representatives of economic and trade union categories collaborate to pursue in a shared manner the realization of the interests of the community, demonstrating that here the concept of autonomy has materialized in an effective team game between all levels of Government”. The prefect of Udine Domenico Lione said this in his speech at the celebrations for June 2 in Piazza Libertà, in Udine. The ceremony for the Republic Day opened with the raising of the flag, followed by the reading of the message from the Head of State, Sergio Mattarella. In Lione's speech, a tribute to the banner of the Municipality of Udine, "decorated with the gold medal for military valor, because the Friulian people after September 8, 1943 rose up united against German and fascist oppression, sustaining for 19 months a fight that has the flavor of legend" said Lione. Then the homage to the decorated banners, "as a testimony to the thousands of women and men - the Prefect specified - who sacrificed their lives to act as barriers to the invaders and who contributed decisively to the birth of our Republic". “A respectful thought – Lione then said – goes to all those who have contributed to the prosperity of our Republic that in its 79 years has recovered from the disasters of war events that had decapitated by more than two thirds the value of our economy and destroyed our cities. A work that has contributed to creating an important economic and social fabric, which is and will always be an example of civilization”.
In conclusion of his speech, a grateful thought to all those who "carry out their activity at any level to satisfy the interests of the community.
