Osimo 2025 municipal elections, how to vote and sample ballot paper

Osimo 2025 municipal elections, how to vote and sample ballot paper

Osimo, May 24, 2025 - Osimo is ready to vote. With a decree dated March 24, the Minister of the Interior set the date for the annual round of administrative elections in the ordinary statute regions for Sunday, May 25 and Monday, May 26, with a possible run -off on Sunday, June 8 and Monday, June 9.

The timetables

Voting will take place on the first day from 7am to 11pm and on the second day from 7am to 3pm, when the counting will begin.

The candidates

There are two women and a man competing for the tricolor sash of mayor of Osimo. Michela Glorio, candidate of the center-left (eight lists in support with the parties Partito Democratico and Movimento Cinque Stelle), Michela Staffolani for Fratelli d'Italia, Rinasci Osimo and Viva Osimo, and Francesco Pirani (Pirani sindaco, Osimo al centro and Progetto Osimo).

Glorio, 42, project manager-euro designer for institutions and organizations, former Tourism Councilor for two terms in the Pugnaloni administration, is proposing his candidacy again this year after last year, when he lost in the runoff with the former mayor Pirani related to Sandro Antonelli (who later became his deputy). Staffolani is the second woman to aspire to the position. It would be the first time in the history of Osimo. Former Roads Councilor in the previous Pirani administration, 47, Staffolani is an expression of the party in the national government. Pirani's return was announced last in chronological order, together with several former government members with him for five months before his resignation in December. Entrepreneur, 60, the last mayor of the city is trying again this time, precisely, without the Civic Lists that have always been of Dino Latini.

Who can vote and the necessary documents

All Italian citizens who have turned 18 by the start date of the elections and who are residents in the municipality for which they are voting can vote in the administrative elections. To vote, it will be necessary to present your electoral card and a valid identity document . Anyone who has lost or used up all the spaces on their electoral card can request a duplicate from the electoral office of their municipality.

How to vote

For municipalities with more than 15,000 inhabitants and for provincial capitals, voting is done on a single ballot paper, which will already contain the names of the candidates for mayor and, under each of them, the symbol or symbols of the lists and parties supporting them. There are three ways to express your preference. The first involves the possibility of marking only the symbol of a list or party, thus assigning your preference to the marked list and to the mayoral candidate supported by it. The second option involves the possibility of marking a symbol of a list, simultaneously marking a symbol on the name of a mayoral candidate not connected to the list voted for. This is the so-called split vote. Alternatively, there is the third option : you can mark only the name of the mayoral candidate, thus voting only for the mayoral candidate and not for the list or lists connected to him. Each voter may also express, in the appropriate lines next to the list symbol, one or two preference votes , writing the surname of the candidates included in the list he/she voted for. In the case of expressing two preferences, they must concern candidates of different sexes from the same list, under penalty of cancellation of the second preference. The candidate who obtains the absolute majority of votes (at least 50% plus one) is elected mayor in the first round.

The possible run-off

If no candidate gets a majority in the first round, there will be a runoff and in this case there will be another vote on the 8th and 9th (when there will also be a referendum). In the second round, the candidate who gets the most votes will be elected mayor.

Where to vote

On their ballot paper , citizens called to vote (32,066) will find the number and address of the polling station where they must go to vote. In Osimo there are 33 polling stations . The Municipality provides voters with walking difficulties with a free transport service to the polling stations, with a vehicle from the Italian Red Cross – Local Committee of Osimo. The service must be requested using the attached form to be delivered to the Municipal Electoral Office which will organize the transport.
