Who can vote? All Italian citizens who have turned 18 by the start date of the elections and who are residents of the municipality where the vote is being held can vote in the administrative elections. To vote, you must present your electoral card and a valid identity document at the polling station whose number is indicated on the ballot paper. Anyone who has lost or used up all the spaces on the ballot paper can request a duplicate from the Electoral Office of your municipality, which remains open for the entire duration of the voting operations.
How to voteThe ballot paper given to the voter contains the names of the mayoral candidates in the order drawn and, under each of them, the symbols of the lists and parties that support them. The voter can express his or her preference in three ways: - by making a mark only on the symbol of a list or party (the vote goes to the list and the associated mayoral candidate); - by making a mark on the symbol of a list and a mark on the name of a mayoral candidate not associated with that list ( split vote ); - by making a mark only on the name of the mayoral candidate and not for the list or lists associated with him or her. - One or two preferential votes can be expressed, using the two lines next to the symbol of the chosen list or party. If two preferences are expressed, they must be for two candidates of different sexes from that list , under penalty of cancellation of the second preference.
ResultsThe counting of votes will begin on May 26, immediately after the polls close.
Possible run-offIf none of the four candidates receives a majority of votes (50% +1), the two candidates with the highest scores will go to a runoff on June 8 and 9. The referendum will also be held on that date.
