Svp in Meloni government, hypothesis ex mayor of Brunico Griessmair undersecretary of Calderoli

Svp in Meloni government, hypothesis ex mayor of Brunico Griessmair undersecretary of Calderoli

The former mayor of Brunico Roland Griessmair could join the Meloni government as undersecretary with responsibility for linguistic minorities in Roberto Calderoli's Ministry for Regional Affairs . The hypothesis of the South Tyrolean daily newspaper Tageszeitung is confirmed in Rome and by the interested party himself: "I would be merely a technician". Meanwhile, in Bolzano, the first government in history led by the SVP - centre-right is starting.

The Griessmair hypothesis is causing quite a bit of discussion in Bolzano. For the SVP, it would be the end of a taboo, given that the longest-running party in parliament has always refused any involvement in a national government.

As the Tageszeitung writes, Griessmair can count on his friendship with Minister Francesco Lollobrigida and also on the support of Minister Calderoli . According to the Volkspartei, "there is no formal proposal from the government, but we know that it is being taken into consideration". If the hypothesis were to materialize, the "competent bodies of the SVP would be called upon to define the party's position".

Griessmair: “I would be a purely technical undersecretary”

The former mayor of Brunico confirmed to Rai Südtirol that the Ministry for Regional Affairs has offered him the role of undersecretary for linguistic minorities. "The reform of the autonomy of South Tyrol is now in the starting phase, and it is in the government's interest to continue it within this legislature. For this reason, we want to appoint a technical contact, who will take care of advancing the reform and who will also be an interlocutor for the other linguistic minorities", declared Griessmair.

"This would be a novelty in this form, because it does not involve a political pact: the government does not need the votes of the SVP. It is mainly about the issue itself and its contents. The Volkspartei would not be part of the political majority, it would be a purely technical-institutional assignment in favor of the Autonomy Statute", added Griessmair.

The first SVP-Centre-Right municipal council in office in Bolzano

Meanwhile, at the second attempt - one day before the deadline - shortly before midnight yesterday, the first SVP-centre-right municipal council of Bolzano was elected to the Council with 24 votes from the majority. Monday's session had been cancelled because not all councillors had received the necessary documents. In addition to the mayor Claudio Corrarati , the City Council also includes Claudio Della Ratta (both Corrarati list), Stephan Konder and Johanna Ramoser (both SVP), Patrizia Brillo, Tritan Myftiu (both Fratelli d'Italia) and Marco Caruso (Lega).

The coalition's program was also approved.
