In the Canadian evening, on the eve of the official opening of the G7 summit in Kananaskis, a long and informal conversation took place between Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni, French President Emmanuel Macron, German Chancellor Friedrich Merz, British Prime Minister Keir Starmer and Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney.

The meeting, which took place in the Italian night at the resort hosting the summit, opened with an exchange of greetings and a few jokes between the leaders, and represented the occasion for an initial comparison in view of the start of the G7 work.

In the past few hours, Italian sources have indicated the goal of finding a coordinated position with European partners on the war between Israel and Iran, and then arriving at general coordination with US President Donald Trump.
