Here is Megaride, the supercomputer for cybersecurity

In Naples at the San Giovanni headquarters Teduccio of the Federico II University was inaugurated today 'Megaride', a High-Efficiency Supercomputing System energy which represents one of the most advanced infrastructures at European level and a strategic investment for the country. Megaride is one of the nodes of the national infrastructure and of the European High Performance Computing ecosystem: the aim is to support and promote scientific research, both in academia and industry, and cybersecurity of the country through the development of advanced solutions based on artificial intelligence. The project was born from an initiative of the National Agency for Cybersecurity (Acn) and the Ministry of University and Research, with the support of Icsc (National Research Centre in HPC, Big, Data and Quantum Computing), of the National Council of research and of Cineca, the inter-university consortium that hosts and manages the data center within its premises of Naples. The data center will constitute the technological core of reference for HyperSOC, the current centralized system developed by the Agency for the Management and Monitoring of national threats, currently in operation on several pilot projects of the public and private sector. The supercomputer will use artificial intelligence and machine learning to strengthen the digital security and national technological sovereignty. Characterized by high energy efficiency and a HPC system powered by 28,000 processors and 340 accelerators, Megaride will be interconnected and operate jointly with Leonardo, one of the ten most powerful supercomputers in the world, ensuring optimized performance for tool development of artificial intelligence and machine learning. Among these, of of particular relevance to the aims of the project are the methods advanced for the protection of national cybersecurity and European. The acquisition and installation of the new data center, which has benefited from a financing of approximately 50 million euros, is part of the broader set of initiatives in favour of sovereignty and autonomy with respect to a strategic technology such as supercomputing promoted by the Italian government through the Mur and the Department for Digital Transformation, and achieved in the last two years thanks to the resources made available provision from the PNRR.
