Public consultation on the European Innovation Act is underway.

Public consultation on the European Innovation Act is underway.

The European Commission has launched a call for contributions and a public consultation, inviting all interested parties to contribute to the future European Innovation Act, a key objective of the EU strategy for startups and scaleups. The law, the EU executive notes in a statement, aims to facilitate the market launch of innovative ideas across all sectors and address the challenges associated with commercializing research results.

With the European Innovation Act, Brussels also intends to strengthen collaboration between industry and academia, improve innovative companies' access to markets, financing, talent, and infrastructure, and create a more innovation-friendly regulatory, policy, and investment environment across the EU, providing European innovators with the tools to grow, expand, and compete.

"We want to listen to the views of innovators, businesses, investors, policymakers, researchers, universities, and all stakeholders to build an ambitious and effective innovation framework that delivers concrete results," said EU Commissioner for Startups, Research, and Innovation, Ekaterina Zaharieva. The European Innovation Act is one of the initiatives of the EU Strategy for Startups and Scaleups, adopted in May 2025. It is also one of the key initiatives helping to close the innovation gap, identified by the Competitiveness Compass as one of the transformational imperatives for strengthening competitiveness.
