Samsung plans biggest foreign acquisition in eight years

Samsung plans biggest foreign acquisition in eight years

Samsung Electronics is close to acquiring German company FlaktGroup Holding, which operates in the heating, ventilation and air-conditioning systems industry in office buildings and multi-family residential buildings.

FlaktGroup was established in 2016 after the British investment fund Triton Investments Advisers LLP acquired Flakt Woods Group and merged it with DencoHappel.

After several years of involvement, the fund decided to withdraw from this investment, looking for an industry investor interested in modern technical solutions for HVAC (Heating, Ventilation and Air Conditioning) systems.

The transaction is valued at $1.5-2 billion, which means that it could be the largest foreign acquisition for Samsung Electronics in eight years.

FlaktGroup operates in the rapidly growing European market. In addition to cost-effective solutions for office buildings, hotels and homes, it also offers cooling systems for data centers.

Last year, global spending in the HVAC segment was estimated at USD 310 billion.
