During the tests for the historic Suzuka 8 Hours, scheduled for August 1-3, Luca Marini suffered a bad fall. After taking part in the MotoGP weekend at Silverstone, the Italian rider went to Japan to test the Honda CBR1000RR-R SP; however, during the second day of tests he was the victim of a violent accident .

The MotoGP season for the 27-year-old started with difficulties, but despite everything he always managed to finish the races in the points, obtaining eighth place in Austin as his best placement. In the standings he has collected 38 points so far, while in 2024, his first year riding the Honda RC213V, he had only scored 14 points. Marini struggled to find the right feeling with the Japanese bike, especially after racing with Ducati and in the VR46 team, where he had achieved good results. After the fifteenth place in Silverstone, he moved to Japan to prepare for the famous endurance race.

According to the Honda HRC team, of which Marini is a member and which is led by Valentino Rossi's brother, the rider suffered a dislocated left hip, fractures to the sternum and left clavicle, damage to the ligaments of his left knee and a right pneumothorax.

Marini was immediately transported to the hospital, where he was stabilized, and will remain under observation in Japan until he is deemed fit to travel.
