They are among the youngest in the competition, but during the competition they demonstrate the talent and determination of true professionals. Amelia Sgobino, who just turned 10, from Fagagna, and Sofia Gelsomino, who will turn 10 in September, from Palmanova, have won an extraordinary double in the Artistic Gymnastics section – Advanced LA Level – Allieve 2 Category of the 2025 summer edition of “Ginnastica in Festa”, climbing respectively to the first and second step of the national podium.

A highly prestigious result achieved in the setting of Rimini, where one of the most anticipated events in the Italian gymnastics calendar takes place. Organized by the Italian Gymnastics Federation in collaboration with Pesaro Gym 2019, Italian Exhibition Group and Esatour Group, the sports event “Ginnastica in Festa” brings together thousands of athletes from all regions of Italy every year, engaged in the disciplines of rhythmic, artistic, aerobic, acrobatic, trampolining and parkour.

The young Friulians shone in every performance – vault, parallel bars, beam and floor exercise – winning over the judges thanks to a combination of precise, controlled and elegant movements. The final score of 149.250 for Amelia and 148.900 for Sofia, testifies to the very high level of the two athletes and the solidity of the work done in the gym.

The success in Rimini confirms the golden moment of ASU, and in particular, of its very young athletes: on April 13, Amelia and Sofia had already made people talk about them at the individual regional competition in San Vito al Tagliamento, finishing first and third respectively. Also in San Vito, with their teammates Amalia Bertossi, Sofia Albini and Elisa Da Ros, they had brought home the title of “Regional Team Champions”. Amelia, moreover, in recent months has achieved a brilliant third place ex aequo, together with Matilde Camilli, at the national competition “Duo” – Rimini Winter Edition 2024.

Great satisfaction was expressed by ASU coaches Anna De Filippis, Sofia Radakovick and Elena Zaldívar Saez, who for years have accompanied the girls' sporting path with passion and tireless dedication.

“We are very happy,” commented Anna De Filippis. “The girls work hard every day, with enthusiasm and determination. In Rimini they were able to handle the pressure and give their best. But these results are also the result of mutual support between teammates, the trust of their families and the commitment of the entire technical staff. Gymnastics is a complex discipline, and to grow you need talent, perseverance and a real team behind you.”
