Football, six new “sports managers” trained in Ischia

The “Gaetano Filangieri” High School in Frattamaggiore hosted a significant moment for amateur football in Campania: the final test of the “Sports Manager” course, promoted by the Campania Regional Committee of the FIGC – Lega Nazionale Dilettanti.
Among the participants were also five students from the Enrico Mattei State Technical Institute, who had the opportunity to follow the course for free: Andrea Pinto, Rosario Licciardello, Christian Castiglione, Luca Colella and Francesca Di Gregorio. Alongside them, to testify to the transversal value of training, also Salvatore Castagna, president of the Lacco Ameno sports club, representing the island's football realities. A presence that strengthens the bond between territory, school and sport, underlining how the islands do not remain on the margins but actively participate in the growth of the amateur movement.
The certificates of participation were personally delivered by the president of FIGC Campania, Carmine Zigarelli, who wanted to encourage the students with simple but incisive words: "Whoever doesn't train, stops". A philosophy that is the basis of the entire training project, born with the aim of preparing capable, aware and ready management figures to face the challenges - and responsibilities - of grassroots football.

The course, divided into several theoretical and practical lessons, covered all the fundamental aspects for those who wish to work within a sports club: from federal regulations to sports justice, from memberships to bureaucratic procedures, up to the economic management and accounting of amateur associations.
Ample space was also given to the human and relational dimension of the role: building an effective dialogue with coaches, athletes and families, communicating clearly, and knowing how to enhance the educational role of sport, especially in the youth sector. Precisely on this front, particular attention was dedicated to the protection of minors and to the collaboration between schools and sports clubs.
The final test was the last step of the journey: those who passed it obtained the official certificate that allows them to work as an accompanying manager or responsible manager within the teams affiliated with the FIGC. An important milestone for many, a starting point to build - with skill and passion - an amateur football that is increasingly structured, inclusive and close to the communities. Even those, often forgotten, of our islands.
