Giro d'Italia - letters on the slope
The first sprint of the pink race was won by the Dutch sprinter, after a stage of solitude in the breakaway and too many risks in the final. Mads Pedersen is still in the pink jersey
Of all the early breakaways in the Giro d'Italia , the solitary one is the saddest. No one to say a word to. No one to share the wind or the fatigue. If you start alone with 188 kilometers to go, the only thing you know for sure is that you won't get to the finish line alone.
In solidarity with the riders who run the Giro d'Italia, here we decided to tell the stages of the Giro d'Italia doing their same effort: a letter per meter of altitude difference. Here is the 4th stage of the Giro, Alberobello-Lecce, 189 kilometers and 800 meters of altitude difference in 800 characters (spaces included)
Francisco Muñoz spent much of the fourth stage of the Giro in a breakaway with no hope of getting ahead of the peloton. If a rock can't stem the sea, imagine Muñoz beating the peloton.
The group did not let themselves be anticipated. They were hoping for a calm and fast finish. Fast it was, calm it was not. The last kilometers were a gymkhana of curves, bottlenecks, bumps and manholes, from which Casper van Uden emerged first of all, better than all. A sprint of balance and power.
