Hungarian GP: Pole Position Hunt, Live Qualifying

The 14th round of the Formula 1 World Championship is taking place in Hungary. McLaren are still the favorites, and a new duel is expected between championship leader Oscar Piastri and teammate Lando Norris .

Hamilton will start 12th

Lewis Hamilton, despite being excluded from Q2, moves up a place on the starting grid. The Briton will start twelfth following the cancellation of Andrea Kimi Antonelli's time (Mercedes) due to track limits, who instead moves up from eleventh to fifteenth. Both drivers, however, will be forced to race back to back to try and secure a top spot in the standings.

Piastri, Verstappen, and Norris have each taken four poles this season, one for Russell. Ferrari is still without a pole.

McLaren also leads the way in the third free practice session at the Hungarian GP, with Oscar Piastri setting a best time of 1.14.916. The Australian McLaren driver leads teammate Lando Norris by +0.032 and Ferrari's Charles Leclerc by +0.399, finishing third, just behind Lewis Hamilton's Ferrari, fourth at +0.768. Kimi Antonelli's Mercedes finished fifth, ahead of teammate George Russell in eighth. Fernando Alonso posted a solid sixth, followed by Stroll. Max Verstappen's Red Bull fared poorly, finishing no higher than twelfth.
