Igor Protti, a life as a top scorer in all categories of Italian football, is facing the toughest match. He himself announced it with a post on his Instagram profile: "I underwent my first surgery and next week I will begin treatment to try to improve the situation and be able to be operated on again in a few months - writes the former footballer -. It's a very tough match, I know very well that you can win or lose but I will give it my all as always. And as always I know I'm not alone, I have my big and wonderful Family close to me even if not everyone can be physically".

From Rimini, who will turn 58 in September, Protti is the only Italian footballer, together with Dario Hubner, to have won the top scorer rankings in Serie A, Serie B and Serie C, and the only one to end a Serie A championship as top scorer while playing for a relegated team (Bari). He closed his very long career with 257 professional goals, in 669 matches.
