Douglas Luiz to Nottingham Forest, full steam ahead: Juventus awaits his offer

Full speed ahead. Nottingham Forest is ready to accelerate its efforts to bring Douglas Luiz back to the Premier League. The Brazilian is the first choice of president Evangelos Marinakis' club, which is intensifying discussions with Juventus to acquire the midfielder, specifically requested by Portuguese manager Nuno Espirito Santo. Work is underway to finalize both the terms and, above all, the figures. Juventus' asking price is set at at least €40 million ; while Forest would like to spend a little less (around €33-34 million). This is why the parties have been in talks for a few days now to try to bridge the gap, given that the 1998-born player has also expressed his full approval of the move. So much so that his agent Kia Joorabchian has already reached a preliminary agreement with the Biancorossi for a contract until 2030 worth €5 million plus bonuses , more than he currently earns in Turin.
Juventus have clear ideas regarding the deal's formula: Continassa are aiming to let the Brazilian go permanently , and are therefore demanding a mandatory buyout. The English club could tie him to qualification for one of the European competitions: an achievable goal, as demonstrated by their Europa League qualification last season, even though the competition in the Premier League is fierce and high-level. This is why there are no certainties across the Channel, and Juventus are hoping to make Douglas' permanent acquisition conditional on more obvious factors. Nottingham, among others, are also pursuing Luiz , although direct deals are expected between today and tomorrow between Forest and Juventus. Everton should also be kept an eye on, as they are seeking a top-tier midfielder and have a budget of €35 million to strengthen their midfield and entice the Old Lady. However, the Toffees destination doesn't seem to hold much interest for the Brazilian for now.
Nottingham is also helped by the excellent relationship between the midfielder's agent and the English club's sporting director, Edu Gaspar , who is a longtime admirer of Douglas. It's no coincidence that two years ago he offered €40 million to try and bring him to Arsenal , but he ran into a wall erected by Monchi, who refused to sell Luiz. Furthermore, Juventus' new technical director, Francois Modesto, also boasts a very privileged channel with the English club. He has been working with Edu in recent months, while president Marinakis is doting on the young French executive, to whom he gave control of the sporting side of his other club (Olympiacos) a few years ago, in addition to wanting him back under his command at Nottingham. Only the call from a top club like Juventus persuaded the Greek tycoon to release him, however, the still strong chemistry between the two could help finalize the Douglas Luiz deal. Fenerbahce also looms large in the background for the Brazilian: Mourinho has sounded out the waters and could guarantee a huge salary to the 1998-born player, who however continues to give priority to a return to the Premier League .
