Outdoor, cultural and sustainable: it's time for festivals

A festival dedicated to the outdoor world has also arrived in Milan: from May 10 to 12, in the Lambrate District area, the “Italian Outdoor Festival” took place, with the focus on running, but also on mountaineering, trekking and the world of the mountains in general, with stands of various brands more than anything else but also events and conferences. In Cuneo, from May 9 to 10, more mountains with a festival that saw young people at the center of attention, central to the future of the mountains.
And between now and this summer there are still many events scheduled. From May 16th to 18th “Finale for Nepal” will take place between the Ligurian sea and mountains, the classic festival that has been very successful for years and brings together bouldering, trekking, trail enthusiasts but above all has a charitable purpose. “Finale for Nepal” is in fact first and foremost a volunteer association that provides education and accommodation to children in Nepal who otherwise would not have the opportunity.
From May 30 to June 2, attention will be focused on the first edition of “Corpo Montagna”, the first edition of the festival dedicated to collective outdoor practices in Val Saviore, between the municipalities of Cevo and Saviore dell'Adamello, in the province of Brescia. Four days to practice activities that put the body at the center of the relationship with the mountains and in particular with the Adamello. Not simply sports, but collective experiences: «With Corpo Montagna – says Giovanni Pizzochero, one of the creators of the Festival and head of Casa del Parco – we want to promote an approach to the high lands and outdoor practices such as trekking, climbing, trail running: sustainable, accessible and capable of creating connections between territories and communities, between cities and internal areas, enhancing the specificities of a place like Val Saviore. A path that we have already started with the cultural program of the Casa del Parco Adamello, a place of community and mountain culture accessible to all».
In addition to outdoor activities (trekking, climbing, horseback riding, yoga, slackline), workshops and activities for children, there are also artistic and immersive experiences to enjoy. Sergio Maggioni's installation "Neunau. A Sound in Extinction", for example, is an artistic and scientific project at the same time, focused on the situation of the glaciers: through numerous expeditions on the Adamello glacier, the project has collected over 15 thousand hours of sound recordings and thermal data, offering an unprecedented and sensorial story of climate change.
Culture is instead the protagonist of an original initiative that comes from a hotel that is always at the forefront when it comes to new trends: it is the Cyprianerhof Dolomit Resort, at the foot of the Rosengarten Catinaccio, in Tires, in Val d'Ega. Here, from 1st to 8th June, the “Cultura Dolomiti Festival” is scheduled: a week of meetings, live artistic performances, nature excursions and taste experiences desired by the Damian family, owners of the resort, to share their lifestyle, that is, Alpine and healthy, made of excursions and experiences in contact with nature, a source of harmony. All with a respectful and conscious approach towards others and the environment.
Music, artistic walks, forest bathing, film screenings, meditation: many activities are scheduled, open not only to hotel guests but also to the local population: «The community is a central idea in our vision of “Cultura Dolomiti” – explains Diego Villegas, culture manager of the Cyprianerhof hotel –. For this reason, this initiative, like the evening concerts that we regularly hold in the hotel, is open to the inhabitants of the area».
Connection with nature and disconnection from everything else is the main purpose of the “Digital Detox Festival” in Sauris, Carnia, scheduled from June 20 to 22. The title of the festival says it all: it wants to offer an immersive experience to rediscover a balance between real life and technology. Immersed in nature and silence, disconnected from everything, you can rediscover a different rhythm and a mental quiet that is fundamental for our well-being.
The first pillar of the festival is dedicated to understanding the impact that technology has on our lives: through talks, debates and meetings, some of the major international experts and innovators will address several key issues. Then on the program many activities such as guided walks, yoga sessions, forest bathing, meditation on water. And in the evening we continue with readings in front of the sunset and workshops around the bonfire.
Health and well-being are also at the heart of the initiative of the Italian Alpine Club that includes thirteen excursions in nine Italian regions in the month of May, organized by the regional and interregional medical commissions and the local sections of the CAI. It is called "A mountain of health" and we are at the fifth edition. During the excursions we will talk about the exposure of the skin to ultraviolet rays in the mountains, the importance of physical activity, but also sustainability and will provide information on the correct lifestyles to follow.
