Roland Garros, Sinner wins with Djokovic: it's the final with Alcaraz

Jannik Sinner also defeats Novak Djokovic and conquers his first final at Roland Garros, the tournament he is chasing along with Wimbledon. It ended 6-4, 7-5, 7-6: it is the fourth consecutive victory against the Serbian who hoped to conquer his 25th Slam in Paris. On Sunday he will be in the final with the defending champion Carlos Alcaraz: the world numbers one and two, just like in Rome, where Jannik lost in two sets.

Under a wind that does not let up, Sinner goes ahead in the first set (break already at 2 all) while Nole tries to break his rhythm with continuous short balls. Despite a first serve that is lacking (under 50%) and a few too many errors with the forehand, the Italian closes the partial without problems in 46 minutes.

When the rally gets longer and the pressure becomes more and more suffocating, Nole struggles, a bit like his opponents have always done over the years, who would give it their all and then succumb to him. Yet he desperately stays attached to the match with his proverbial tenacity and despite his 38 years, even after losing his serve at 3-all in the second set: he returns the break to bring the score to 5-all while Jannik once again loses the first ball. The Italian, however, does not lose concentration, shows his unshakeable mental solidity and in the next game he takes the lead again and then closes the game 7-5, finally with a weighty serve.

Pride is not enough for the Serbian to win at least one set. Not even three set points that Sinner cancels at 4-5, in a very tense game. After all, in the Serbian's career there are countless times in which, at a disadvantage of two sets, he has managed to turn the tide of the match and take it home. But it is no longer the time: even if the Italian appears tired, when he reaches the tiebreak he plays in an unparalleled way, taking a 3-0 lead, then 5-2, until he extinguishes the last hopes of his opponent. It ends 7-3 and arms up.
