Running at dawn between Viareggio and Lido, the magic of running by night

Viareggio (Lucca), August 9, 2025 – A truly special edition for the thousand runners and walkers who, this morning, enjoyed a clear and spectacular sky from the Viareggio pier. The cosmic kiss between Venus and Jupiter, while the rising sun painted the profile of Mount Matanna red, and, on the opposite side, a splendid full moon that seemed to dive into a purple sea, made for an unforgettable sunrise. The non-competitive race started at 5:15 a.m. from Viale Margherita 49, in front of the AlfRun shop. An event open to all, including families, to experience Viareggio against the evocative backdrop of the sun rising behind Mount Matanna. All participants were offered a technical T-shirt and breakfast from the prestigious Mantovani pastry shop. New this year was the opportunity to participate by bike, along a route that wound along the cycle path to the Tonfano pier, then returned to the Viareggio pier and concluded in front of the AlfRun shop.

A unique opportunity to enjoy a silent and almost deserted city, admiring the most evocative views of one of Italy's most renowned waterfronts at dawn, running or walking together, unhurriedly, in the spirit of well-being and sharing. The crowd wasn't just made up of the traditional race-goers: the new approach attracted people from all over the world, who came to enjoy the company of others, bring their four-legged friends, and breathe in the fresh morning air. The event was organized by AlfRun in collaboration with Confcommercio. On the way back from Piazza Mazzini, the runners ran along the shoreline to the pier, where they awaited dawn and admired the sun rising behind Mount Matanna, immortalized in the free photo shoot by ETS Regalami un sorriso .
