Ben Shelton is the new king of Toronto . The American won the Masters 1000 on Canadian hard courts by beating Russian Karen Khachanov in the final in two hours and 48 minutes of play with a score of 6-7(5), 6-4, 7-6(3). In the round of 16 he beat Italian Flavio Cobolli in two sets, with whom he then argued over some of his behaviour on the court .
Cincinnati, Arnaldi eliminated in the first roundThe Italian adventure at the Cincinnati Masters 1000 got off to a bad start. Matteo Arnaldi , world number 41, one of the eight Italians starting in the main draw ( Nardi and Bellucci were on the court today ), was beaten in a comeback in the first round by the Frenchman Benjamin Bonzi , number 66 in the ATP ranking, with a score of 6-7(1) 6-3 6-4 in three hours.
Venus Williams immediately eliminated in CincinnatiVenus Williams , who returned to tennis last month after more than a year away, lost to Spain's Jessica Bouzas Maneiro 6-4, 6-4 in the first round of the Cincinnati Masters 1000, to which she received a wild card. With the crowd on her side, Williams put the 22-year-old Spaniard under pressure but struggled with her serve. Williams, who underwent uterine surgery a year ago, became the oldest woman to win a WTA match in more than two decades when she defeated Peyton Stearns last month in Washington .
