Arezzo, August 26, 2025 – Stia Calcio: one hundred years of sport, passion, and community
The Centenary Celebration on Saturday 30 August will celebrate one of the longest-running realities of Arezzo football.
The event will open with the presentation of the book “Cento volte Stia” and will continue with the dinner-show
Stia celebrates a century of football. This Casentino club is among the longest-running in the entire province, with a history dating back to 1925. Over the past hundred years, it has involved entire generations of citizens in various roles as athletes, coaches, managers, collaborators, and fans, providing a sporting and social hub for the entire community. This passion will now find further expression in the Centennial Celebration, which will celebrate this milestone on Saturday, August 30th with a series of events designed to pay homage to the club's long and proud tradition, while also looking to the future with the presentation of the team that triumphed in the last Second Category championship and is therefore ready to experience its return to the First Category.
The day will begin at 6:00 PM at the Palagio Fiorentino with the presentation of the book "Cento volte Stia - Un paese, una squadra, una storia" (One Hundred Times Stia - A Country, a Team, a Story). Written by Nicola and Luca Fiumicelli, with the involvement of dozens of Stia residents, the book traces the last century through a collection of stories, anecdotes, results, photographs, and documents. The book spans from early black-and-white images to the present day, highlighting highly prestigious achievements, including his time in the Eccellenza league in the 1950s. It also introduces the key players on and off the field, including Maurizio Sarri, who joined Stia as a player in 1990 and then finished the season as coach. His coaching career, which included spells at prestigious Italian and European clubs, began with the Casentino team. The book launch will be conducted as a true "literary salon" to engage those in attendance and rekindle memories, also featuring the words of Paolo Mangini (President of the Tuscany Regional Committee - National Amateur League), Luca Santini (Mayor of Pratovecchio Stia), and Paolo Checcacci (President of USD Stia). The celebrations will continue from 8:30 pm at the Stia Municipal Theater with a dinner show, offering a moment of reunion and conviviality for the "viola" community, past and present, finding their heart in the official presentation of the 2025-2026 season roster, curated by Sporting Director Giancarlo Puccini and led by Coach Alessandro Forciniti. "The centenary will also be an opportunity to reunite and thank those who have dedicated their heart, time, and passion to Stia," commented President Checcacci. "Ours is, in fact, a story of sacrifice, of victories and defeats, but above all of people: every one of our fellow citizens has been involved in the club's events, with a strong sense of pride and belonging that characterizes the local sporting identity. We therefore look to the past with pride and to the future with enthusiasm, ready to write the next pages of our sporting and human adventure together."
