Tennis: Italian Journalists Championships, Riccardo Ceccagnoli Wins

The 64th edition of the Agit absolute championships, the Association of Italian tennis journalists, ended in Castiglione della Pescaia, on the courts of the Rocchette club. Riccardo Ceccagnoli of Tg5, the title holder, confirmed himself as champion of the open singles by beating Silver Mele (Canale 8) in the final. In the over 55 singles Giampaolo Gherarducci (Mediaset) prevailed over Stefano Mosca of the Gedi group.
In the women's singles open Antonella Piperno (Rai TV writer and Agi collaborator) won in two sets with Eleonora Pellegrini (free-lance), in the over 65 she lifted the Ugo Peretti cup (Il Tirreno) beating Agit president Mauro Porcù (formerly a correspondent for La Repubblica). Paolo Occhipinti, former historical director of 'Oggi' who today boasts the number 7 in the world ranking among the over 85s, played in the over 75 draw, beating Mauro Mosconi in the final.
The open men's doubles went to the pair Ceccagnoli-Mosca (in the final they beat Nicola Occhipinti of Gazzetta dello Sport and Antonello Valentini (ex Figc), in the mixed doubles Alessandro Baschieri (Corriere della Sera) and Eliana Di Caro (Il Sole 24 ore) confirmed their champions by beating the pair Mele-Pellegrini in two sets.
