The 55th edition of the Coppa Sportivi di Bagnolo cycling championship returns to Montemurlo

Prato, May 22, 2025 - It is among the longest-running cycling races in the area and this year it reaches the finish line of its 55th edition. It is the Coppa Sportivi di Bagnolo, promoted by the Circolo Gino Gelli, Sportivi di Bagnolo sports association, with the patronage of the Municipality of Montemurlo and the organization of the Cycling Team Seanese, which returns to Bagnolo on Sunday, May 25 starting at 2:00 pm with departure from via Labriola. The cycling race is valid for the regional championship and this year will see the participation of 120 cyclists. An important challenge to bring out the champions of tomorrow, in fact, is reserved for the junior category (boys aged 17-18). There are 65 Tuscan athletes competing and over 40 coming from outside the region. New this year is the longer route, a full 127 km, with 5 laps of the Rocca di Montemurlo and 11 of the Montemurlo plain. As always, the soul of the sporting event is Riccardo Corsi who follows the organization of the race with passion. "The Coppa Sportivi di Bagnolo is a classic of junior cycling in the area. An event that always attracts many young cyclists from all over Italy and which the Municipality of Montemurlo cares a lot about and supports with conviction" say the mayor Simone Calamai and the sports councilor, Valentina Vespi .

To allow the race to take place, some traffic restrictions will come into force on Sunday 25 May from 2:00 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. At each point along the route, the suspension of traffic will last for the duration strictly necessary for the transit of competitors deemed, according to the sporting regulations, to be still in the race starting from the moment the vehicle indicating “start of cycling race” passes until the one with the mobile sign “end of cycling race” passes. The streets involved are via Labriola, via Montalese, via Fratelli Rosselli, roundabout via Berlinguer, via Scarpettini, via Milano, via Cremona, via Venezia, via Terni, roundabout via Parugiano di Sotto- via Boito, via Parugiano di Sotto, via dell'Agricoltura, via Labriola (to be repeated 11 times) via Labriola, via Montalese, via Tito Speri, via Badioli, via della Rocca, via F.lli Cervi, via Matteotti, via Montalese, via Fratelli Rosselli, roundabout via E. Berlinguer, via Scarpettini, via Milano, via Cremona, via Venezia, via Terni, roundabout via Parugiano di Sotto-Via Boito, via Parugiano di Sotto, via dell'Agricoltura, via Labriola (to be repeated 5 times). During the period of temporary suspension of traffic, the transit of any vehicle not following the race is prohibited, in both directions of travel of the section affected by the transit of the competitors; All vehicles are prohibited from entering the route affected by the transit of competitors; all vehicles coming from roads or areas that intersect or that enter the route affected by the transit of competitors are required to stop before entering it, respecting the manual or luminous signals of the bodies in charge of surveillance or of the organization's personnel; - drivers and pedestrians are required not to cross the road.

Also on Sunday, to allow the race to take place, a parking ban will be in place, with removal, from 10 am to 6 pm in Piazza Bini, a small square in front of the "Hack" Bagnolo sports centre and primary school (Via Micca), Via Labriola (the stretch between the roundabout with Via Montalese - Via Riva up to the intersection with Via Rovigo), in Via Tito Speri, in Via I. Badioli, in Via della Rocca (the stretch between Via Fratelli Cervi and Via Badioli ) , in Via Fratelli Cervi , in Via Matteotti ( the stretch between Via Fratelli Cervi and the roundabout with Via Montalese ) and in Via Fratelli Rosselli . Furthermore , from 1:30 pm to 6 pm Via Morecci (intersection Via della Rocca) will be closed to traffic, diversions will be indicated on site.
