Milan, August 15, 2025 – After a promising season with Parma, Giovanni Leoni is leaving Serie A to move to the Premier League and wear the Liverpool jersey . Now it's official: the talented defender, born in 2006, is joining the Reds for a fee close to €30 million plus bonuses . "I'm really happy to join a club like Liverpool," Leoni told the club's official channels, "which is among the best in the world. I'm truly honored and very excited. Now I want to improve a lot through training and playing in the Premier League and the Champions League." Parma has reinvested part of the proceeds from this lucrative transfer to secure the 2003-born striker Matija Frigan, who arrives from Belgian side Westerlo. Among Giovanni Leoni's suitors were Inter, who in recent hours seemed to have decisively turned to Manu Koné to strengthen their midfield . The Nerazzurri seemed intent on offering Roma a fee approaching €40 million. According to multiple sources, however, after an initial offer, the Roman club has apparently backtracked, letting them know they don't want to part with the Ivorian-born midfielder, whom they consider a key player for coach Giampiero Gasperini . Roma, however, have not given up on their search for a couple of key attacking reinforcements and continue to push with Manchester United for Jadon Sancho, who could arrive in the capital on loan with an obligation to buy for a fee close to €23 million, and with Aston Villa for Leon Bailey . Now it remains to be seen whether Inter will decide—by making a higher offer—to re-enter negotiations with Atalanta to bring Chivu Ademola Lookman to the coach's court. Meanwhile, there are rumors from France of Lille's interest in French defender Benjamin Pavard, whom the Nerazzurri could release if the French club receives a good offer. A hot name to replace Pavard should he leave is Omar Solet, who had a very positive season with Udinese. Also from France, confirmation has arrived of an agreement between Juventus and Paris Saint-Germain for Kolo Muani to remain at Juventus: the deal was reached on a loan with an obligation to buy set at approximately €45 million. On the outgoing front, the sale of Douglas Luiz to Nottingham Forest appears increasingly close, while Nico Gonzalez could end up at Atletico Madrid. These departures would guarantee cash to launch a bid for Matt O'Riley. Finally, Udinese could enter the race for right-back Alessandro Zanoli, who seemed close to joining Bologna.
