Caravaggio 2025 exhibition extended until July 20

Given the exceptional success - with over 400 thousand visitors registered so far and the great interest aroused at home and abroad - the cult exhibition "Caravaggio 2025" will not close as planned on July 6th but will continue its happy adventure at Palazzo Barberini for another two weeks: the The National Galleries of Ancient Art have announced the extension until July 20th of the exhibition curated by Francesca Cappelletti, Maria Cristina Terzaghi and Thomas Clement Salomon. Visiting hours will remain the same as in June: from Monday to Wednesday, from 9am to 10pm and from Thursday to Sunday from 9 to 24. The exhibition route from July 7th (with a break on July 9th, when the exhibition will be closed) will remain unchanged in its sections and contents, with the only exception of the work I Musici (1595-1596), which will return to Metropolitan Museum of Art, New York, due to previous commitments institutional. Therefore a new opportunity for the public of admire the remaining 23 extraordinary masterpieces, including some rarely visible - such as the Portrait of Maffeo Barberini, the Ecce Homo rediscovered in Madrid in 2021 and the first version of the Conversion of Saul -, discovering the unchanged capacity of Caravaggio to speak to the contemporary world with his power narrative, drama and pictorial truth. The pre-sale of tickets will open on Monday 30 June and will remain active the possibility of visiting the Casino until July 20th Boncompagni Ludovisi with a special ticket linked to the show.
