Where Hotel Costiera was filmed: All the breathtaking locations from the Prime Video series

Hotel Costiera , the new Prime Video original series, is a love letter to Italy . Set in one of the world's most iconic settings, the Amalfi Coast , the series successfully combines mystery, action, and humor with a stunning visual aesthetic.
In addition to Jesse Williams , the series' star and executive producer, the cast also includes Italians Maria Chiara Giannetta , Antonio Gerardi, Tommaso Ragno, and Pierpaolo Spollon. A mix of thriller, romance, and humor, Hotel Costiera presents itself as a thriller set against a picture-perfect backdrop of Italy.
What is it about?Daniel De Luca , played by Jesse Williams (whom we interviewed ), a former American Marine with Italian roots, returns to the land of his childhood: the splendid coast of Positano. Here he begins working as a fixer in an exclusive luxury hotel , discreetly solving all kinds of problems for its demanding international guests.
But his assignment hides a more personal mission: to find Alice , the hotel owner's young daughter, who mysteriously disappeared over a month ago. As he struggles to unravel secrets, lies, and gilded chambers, Daniel will face a danger far greater than any he's faced before: entering the heart of a mystery that will test him like never before.
Where was it filmed?"We searched for locations where the lush vegetation and the scent of the sea could envelop and engage our characters, immersing them in a profoundly Italian narrative," said production designer Stefano Pica. Speaking about the creative process, he explained: " The work began with extensive location scouting along the coastlines involved in the narrative. Once the main locations were identified, sketches were created to support the script, which were then shared with the director and all the artistic figures involved, in order to construct a coherent and evocative visual structure."
The story's centerpiece is a luxury hotel overlooking the sea in Positano , and it is precisely in the famous Villa Treville that the production found its "pearl." Once the residence of director Franco Zeffirelli , Villa Treville opened its doors to the crew for three intense weeks of filming , offering not only its breathtaking views but also impeccable hospitality.
Director Adam Bernstein , fascinated by the project, said: “ Hotel Costiera was an opportunity to explore a unique mix of action, comedy and drama, with the advantage of shooting in one of the most beautiful places on the planet.”
Sperlonga becomes Positano (almost)Filming in Positano presented significant logistical challenges. To ensure greater flexibility, many sequences set in the town's picturesque alleys were shot in Sperlonga , a town on the Lazio coast chosen for its similar aesthetics and greater accessibility.
Here, coastal-style squares, bars, and shops have been recreated, enriched with traditional Amalfi decorations, plants, and colors. The result? A scenic version of Positano , perfectly believable and capable of capturing the charm of the Campanian town.
Filming between Rome, Naples and ArgentarioTo complete the visual picture, other strategic locations were chosen from: Naples , for some urban shots and “street” atmospheres; Argentario , for panoramic sequences along the coast; Rome and its surroundings, where interiors and reconstructed settings were filmed.
Some parts of the hotel, such as the apartment of protagonist Daniel De Luca, were reconstructed on the Lux Vide soundstages in Formello. Here, the production also adopted advanced technological solutions such as LED panels and array technology to simulate moving sequences (camera cars and motorcycles) with total cinematic realism .
A production with low environmental impactParticular attention was paid to environmental sustainability. Hotel Costiera is one of the first Italian productions to integrate green solutions , with a very low environmental impact and production policies that focus on the crew's well-being. The use of the new Arry 35 cameras, capable of precisely capturing the warm, golden light of the Mediterranean, also contributed to the visual result.
Director of photography Alessandro Pesci explained: “The contrast between the idyllic landscape and the characters' restlessness animates the story. Natural light plays a central role: warm, emotional, enveloping. ” Behind the scenes, screenwriter Elena Bucaccio 's vision sums up the essence of the project: “Hotel Costiera tells the story of Italy through the eyes of an Italian-American former Marine. It's a series that makes you smile and dream, but with the emotional depth of Lux stories. We wanted to represent vacation not just as a place, but as a state of mind. ”
