ABC marked the end of surrogacy

The tragedy at the ABC Daycare Center in Hermosillo, Sonora , prompted a shift in the approach to childcare centers and gave way to the Child Education and Care Centers (CECI), designed by the current administration, said Claudia Sheinbaum.

The head of the Executive branch said that the head of the IMSS, Zoé Robledo , has reached out to the families of the victims of the ABC fire to compensate for the damage caused by the tragedy.

"Zoé has done a lot of work there, communicating with the victims; we have always expressed our solidarity and support for them. (…) The families even helped us validate the design of the new Childcare and Education Centers, the new CECIs. And the bottom line is that we no longer agree with this substitution of IMSS childcare services (…) I know Zoé is in contact with them," Sheinbaum explained.

At the ABC Daycare Center, 49 children died: 25 girls and 24 boys, and 104 more were injured.

In addition, volunteers who helped rescue the children during the fire will receive treatment for the after-effects they have suffered since then.
