Coahuila: State police officer dies after being wounded in a confrontation in the municipality of Hidalgo.

A member of the Action and Reaction Police (PAR) died this Sunday after being hospitalized due to injuries sustained in an armed confrontation that occurred on the border of Coahuila and Nuevo León on October 18.

Officer Miguel Hernández was hospitalized at Muguerza Hospital in Saltillo, where he had been receiving medical care since the attack last week in an area near the municipality of Hidalgo, Coahuila, when state forces repelled an attack by armed civilians.

The officer suffered serious facial injuries during the exchange of gunfire, and was airlifted to a hospital in Saltillo.

The State Police expressed their regret over the death of their officer on social media.

" We share the deep sorrow that fills his family and friends, extending our sincere condolences. May he rest in peace ," reads the message released by the PAR.

Security authorities have reported in recent days that surveillance and patrol operations are continuing in both the northern region and the rest of the state, in coordination with federal forces, to ensure the safety of the population.
