High-speed trains have been restored in Seville following an incident.

High-speed trains have been restored in Seville following an incident.

Renfe has reported that high-speed train service between Maharaja and Seville was restored at around 1:00 a.m. after being suspended on Tuesday evening due to an infrastructure incident, which affected services bound for the Andalusian capital, Madrid, Huelva, and Córdoba.

The railway company has stated on 'X' that the high-speed trains stopped on this section "will tend to resume service gradually ." Renfe has also maintained that passengers "are being informed and assisted" by on-board employees.

Previously, Adif explained on 'X' that this incident, which also affected medium-distance trains, left the catenary on both tracks between the Majarabique and Sevilla Santa Justa stations without power, so electrification personnel have been mobilized for its repair.

Specifically, the affected trains connecting with the Andalusian capital are the Avant Málaga-Sevilla train, scheduled to arrive at 8:24 p.m. , which has been stopped between Hornachuelos and Guadajoz; and the Alvia Madrid-Huelva train, scheduled to end at 10:02 p.m.

Also affected was the Granada-Seville Avant train, arriving at 9:09 p.m., which was stopped on track 2 between Majarabique and Seville; the Seville-Madrid AVE train, scheduled to arrive at 11:50 p.m., is stopped on track 3 in Seville; the Barcelona Sants-Seville AVE train (9:24 p.m.), between Hornachuelos and Guadajoz; and the Seville Avant train, scheduled to depart at 9:36 p.m. for Córdoba, which ultimately did not leave the station.

Likewise, the Figueres-Vilafant high-speed train to Seville (arriving at 10:16 p.m.) has been parked in Hornachuelos ; and the Málaga Avant train to Seville, scheduled to end its journey at 10:27 p.m., has been left in Córdoba.

In addition, Adif has indicated that it has sent a diesel locomotive from Hornachuelos to attempt to tow train MD 13931, "which is de-energized near Seville."

Emergency services deployed

The Mayor of Seville, José Luis Sanz, also indicated that the City Council has taken measures by deploying its emergency services in response to the "new railway collapse" that has affected the Santa Justa station, which occurred, he noted, in the midst of a heat wave.

The councillor has pointed out, in a message on 'X', that to Miraflores, "place where one of the trains has stopped with more than 30 people affected, some with reduced mobility" , officers from the Local Police, Civil Protection, as well as a bus from the Urban Transport of Seville have been sent to collect these passengers.

Finally, the mayor noted that local police and Civil Protection officers are assisting the passengers inside the train, and that firefighters and emergency services have also been dispatched to the scene. "Thank you to our great professionals for their work, which I am following very closely," he expressed on social media.
