Three dead, five injured in South Korean bridge collapse

A tragic accident occurred at the construction site of a bridge under construction in South Korea , leaving three workers dead and five injured . The collapse of the bridge, which is part of the Seoul-Sejong Expressway, took place at around 9:50 am in the city of Cheonan , located about 80 kilometers south of Seoul .

The incident occurred while workers were using a crane to move 50-metre-long steel beams between the bridge's pillars. Five of these beams, which supported the structure, collapsed one after another, causing a section of the bridge to collapse. The victims were working beneath the structure at the time of the collapse.

South Korean emergency teams, including firefighters and rescuers, quickly arrived at the scene and began an intensive search to find people trapped under the rubble. Three workers are still missing, local fire services said.

Local media shared images of the collapse, showing a cloud of dust and debris raised by the impact of the structure against the ground. Authorities from the National Fire Protection Agency have deployed resources and personnel to carry out the rescue operation, while acting President Choi Sang-mok instructed emergency measures to ensure prompt assistance to the victims.
