Brad Pitt admits to seeking treatment at AA after split from Angelina Jolie

Brad Pitt , who just released F1: The Movie , confessed in an interview with Dax Shepard and Monica Padam, on the Armchair Expert podcast, that he was in Alcoholics Anonymous after finalizing his divorce from Angelina Jolie.

The actor spoke bluntly about a key stage in his life: the moment when, after separating from Angelina Jolie , he decided to enter Alcoholics Anonymous to treat their drinking problems.

In October 2022, his now ex-wife accused him of having assaulted her and their children during a private flight to California, which led him to file for divorce shortly after. According to Jolie, Pitt was under the influence of alcohol.

Now, during his participation in the podcast "Armchair Expert" with actor Dax Shepard, he opened up about his time in this support group , which he described as "truly special experience."

Pitt, 61, described his first impression upon arriving , saying that although he was nervous, he recognized the courage of his teammates:

“Can we say it's a men's group, right? This was an amazing experience, it was a men's group. My first day in AA was my first day sober, I think it was just indescribable. I thought they were incredible men sharing their experiences, their weaknesses, their setbacks, their desires, their pains, and with a lot of humor. It was a truly special experience,” he said. Pitt recalled arriving at the group quite shaken, “practically on his knees” and willing to do anything to get ahead.

"I tried everything. Anything they threw at me. It was a tough time. I needed a reset. I needed to wake up in some ways. And it meant a lot to me." , he added.

He said that one of his breaking points was taking responsibility for what he was experiencing. Over time, he confessed, AA meetings became something he looked forward to with "great excitement" , in addition to accompanying this process with therapy.

At the same time as Brad he repented and felt bad about his actions, he discovered his best qualities.

"When I started therapy back then, I was like, 'I did this, I did that,' and I talked a lot. I was desperate. You don't get into Alcoholics Anonymous because everything's going great. That's not usually the point of entry."

From a distance, Pitt has continued with his life and career, having just released the film "F1" , in addition to has started a romance with the designer Inés de Ramón.
