Dakota Johnson’s Semi-Sheer Floral Gucci Dress Is a Cannes After-Party Standout
Dakota Johnson brought another stellar look to the Cannes Film Festival last night, attending Splitsville’s after-party in a floral semi-sheer slip dress by Gucci.
She was joined by her co-star Adria Arjona and the film’s director, Michael Angelo Covino. Arjona’s boyfriend, Jason Momoa, Alexander Skarsgård, and Jeremy O. Harris attended as well.
Splitsville earned a six-minute standing ovation at its Cannes premiere and is slated to be released on August 22. The comedy follows a couple who become entangled in their friends’ open marriage. Nicholas Braun and O-T Fagbenle also star in the film.
In a conversation with Deadline at the festival, Johnson spoke about Splitsville’s unique tone. “I guess, off the bat, it reads as a comedy,” she said but noted it’s still very “soulful” and distinctive. “It’s about two couples and the challenging dynamics of their relationships individually, and then their relationships intertwined with each other. It’s about the complexities of love.”
She continued, “It’s less of a love triangle and more of a love experiment. It’s enmeshed, codependent, incestuous, and all the while really deeply loving ultimately, but pretty fucked up a lot of the time.”
This summer, Johnson will also star in Celine Song’s Materialists, which hits theaters on June 13. She recently sat down with her co-star Pedro Pascal for ELLE UK, where she spoke about why she wanted to do the movie.
“I really wanted to work with Celine,” she told Pascal over Zoom. “I loved Past Lives. I loved meeting her even more. I loved the way she spoke about movies and people and feelings.”
