Juan M. Martín de Oliva will preside over the Santo Domingo Tourism Cluster

The Santo Domingo Tourism Cluster (CTSD) elected its new board of directors for the 2025-2027 period during an assembly , which will be headed by Juan Manuel Martín de Oliva , Vice President of Tourism Business at Banco Popular Dominicano.
"At Banco Popular, I have supported the growth of tourism with passion and commitment for 27 years, and I will do the same from the Cluster. Because for me, tourism is not just an industry : it's a tool for development , inclusion, and national pride. And as a professional, but also as a citizen, I have always considered myself an ambassador for Dominican tourism ," said Martín de Oliva.
The priorities of the new boardDe Oliva highlighted that he has three major priorities that he will develop during his administration :
- Turn Santo Domingo into the gastronomic capital of the Caribbean
- Let the Convention Center become a reality
- Project the capital as a leading tourist destination
"To achieve this, we will create strategic committees with representation from all key stakeholders , including hotels, investment, governance, community, legal, bars and restaurants, infrastructure, marketing, health, tour operators, travel agencies, and communications," stated the newly elected president of the CTSD.
He described it as a privilege to continue the work of the outgoing president, Mónika Infante , whom he described as a visionary and committed woman, and for which he hopes to count on the support of the cluster's management team.
"You face a great challenge, but also a tremendous opportunity . I am confident that, with your leadership, the cluster will continue to be an active, collaborative, and visionary platform," Infante said.
During his speech, Infante summarized his administration , citing the initiatives promoted , such as electric cars, Turizoneando, the GoSantoDomingo seal and the intervention model for strengthening MSMEs, which not only boosted the local economy, but also generated opportunities for hundreds of entrepreneurs .
He is a professional with more than 45 years of experience in banking, 27 of which were dedicated to tourism in the Dominican Republic.
From his position as Vice President of the Tourism Department at Banco Popular Dominicano, he has combined two of his greatest passions: finance and tourism.
Under his leadership, the bank has established itself as the main financial partner of the national tourism sector.
Throughout his career, he has given lectures both domestically and abroad on the transformative role of tourism and banking, and is the author of an essay included in the book "A Shared History," on Spanish hotel investment in the Dominican Republic.
