Mexican economy grows 0.7% in the second quarter

The Mexican economy is said to have exceeded specialists' expectations by growing 0.7% in the second quarter of 2025 compared to the immediately preceding period, a rate higher than the 0.2% observed in the first three months of the year , according to the results of the Timely Estimate of the Gross Domestic Product (GDP) carried out by the National Institute of Statistics and Geography (INEGI).
Two of the three major sectors comprising the economy reportedly achieved growth in the second quarter of the year, with industry particularly notable, achieving a 0.8% increase in the April-June period, following two quarters of decline.
The services sector, for its part, registered a quarterly increase of 0.7% , a rate that contrasts with the 0.1% decline reported in the first three months of the year.
On the other hand, agricultural, livestock, forestry, and fishing activities reportedly saw a 1.3% contraction in the second quarter of the year, after having reported a 7.8% increase from January to March .
Thus, for the April-June 2025 period, with seasonally adjusted figures, the Timely Estimate of Gross Domestic Product showed annual growth of 1.2%, a rate higher than the 0.6% reported in the first three months of the year.
